matteo's dedication and first birthday

I'm back!

I haven't updated my blog lately not for the reason I was locked up because of my previous post nor have I returned for the reason the #CyberCrimeLaw has been put in TRO. The family has been very busy preparing for the biggest event since the wedding and Matteo's birth - Matteo turned ONE.

We decided to make it more meaningful so we decided to celebrate in one event our baby's dedication and first birthday. The dedication was described in Luke 2:22-24

The dedication was officiated by our dear friend, pastor Sur

We appreciate how the dedication was conducted as it made the witnesses active participants of the event

We chose the ninongs and ninangs as people who we think will be most involved and present during the growth of Matteo. They were mostly close friends from church and relatives.

After the dedication, the food booths are made open for everyone to enjoy

We'd like to thank the following suppliers who made this celebration super special:

the good

PartyBoosters - headed by the amazing Jacqueline Tan. She was also involved in coordinating our wedding. Jacq became our point of contact and helped us keep our sanity during the more stressful part of the preparations. She provided and coordinated the balloons, food carts, game booths and the host of the party.

Alex Lagula - an amazing showman who made the party fun for the young and old. Friends kept talking about how much they enjoyed his show and his tricks even the day after. And there's also Tito Boy.

Michelle Morelos - our super talented and lovely photographer. I've seen her work since 2005 when I was just starting to get into travel and photography. She was still using a Canon G5 P&S then. During the day itself, the weather didn't turn out the way we wanted to. We had to resort to moving the entire street fair INDOORS. Traffic was also bad and unexpected which made Michelle miss the dedication. She had more than made up for her shortcoming by coming out with spectacular photos of the birthday party and a major discount! Thank you Michelle for your professionalism and thoughtfulness!

Tons of Fun - we got hold of them in one of Groupon's promotional offers for snow cones. They were late but were gracious enough to give us a head's up. The traffic was indeed very bad coming from the north.

Filipinas Heritage Library - the venue was managed by Jane who was very accommodating with our requests and brought up her concerns early to make sure the event went on smoothly. She was very gracious to give us plan B in case the weather didn't cooperate and plan B came to be.

special mention

Nio - our friend is a jack of all trades that can do event coordination, event styling, hosting, emceeing, fashion, hair, make up, dance, perform, eat, photograph, blog, tweet among others! Thanks for standing in the gap :)

the not so good

chairs and tables by JB toy balloons and party needs - they seem to have been in the business for quite some time with their selection of chair and tables of different colors and sizes. Their experience should have made them aware that party setup takes time. They're the nearest supplier in location yet they came in late which greatly affected our schedule. We would have appreciated it if they gave us a heads up instead of having to call them up for follow up. Meh.

Overall, the party was a resounding success! Almost all of the guests had a great time with the games, goodies and the magic show. The guests had their fill of food and candy.

My mother in law made the candy buffet herself! The attention to details were amazing.

Mom made her special home made chinese finger food kikiam. This turned out to be the crowd favorite.

My photoshop ninja skills were put to the test in making these loot bags and passport.

Thank you tita Reah for the cake! Sweet Creation by Mums did a great job.

I designed the tarp based on the iPad game.

Amazing Alex doing his thing.

If the pictures give any indication, our little boy is one happy celebrant!  :)

Thank God for the first year and a successful celebration to top it off.
