multiply revisited: awed in batanes
Back when life was simpler and uncomplicated, when all I cared about was myself, I had wanderlust. Back in the summer of 2006, I embarked on a journey to beautiful Batanes, one of the northernmost remote islands of the Philippines.
I'd thought I wanted to share a few pictures of my travel back in 2006.

SG and back again
quiet anticipation
this skyline may have already changed
chinatown
It will be 6 years since I've last been to the Merlion City. It was the time when we accompanied my sister to start work in a foreign land. Life is hard in Manila and she's looking to grab at the opportunities made available there.
She has since found a boyfriend, got engaged and married. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl last year. The family kept in touch with each other through Skype and Facebook.
In the coming days, the record streak will be broken! We're going to Singapore! This time with my wife and my own baby in tow. We'll be there for only a few days but we're ready to make new memories.
Ill try to post new photos of Singapore 2012 soon.

Geotag Powered!
Geotagging, is the process of adding geographical identification metadata to various media such as websites, RSS feeds, or images and is a form of geospatial metadata. This data usually consists of latitude and longitude coordinates, though it can also include altitude, bearing, and place names.

Ever wondered where in the world you took your favorite photo of a deserted island or beach in one of your travels? Ever wished you could see that secret lagoon you just visited on google earth?
Thanks to the Nokia LD-3W, my photos are now geotagged!

flickr pilipinas : our very own photo exhibit
The first of January for the most of us means new beginnings as this is the first day of the new year. To a small bunch of photo hobbyists - flickr pilipinas, this is the day where we test our mettle and see how the public appreciates our humble works of art. For most, including myself, this is our first take in having our own photo exhibit. A lot of coordination, hard work and effort has been expended to make this exhibit possible - special mention to jolengs. I can imagine the frustration he's experiencing just to get the list of participants, nameplates, feedbacks, payments, etc etc. i mean wow! congratulations jolengs!

I'm now inviting everyone to take a time off your regular chores and visit our humble exhibit "ika-2 BANAT flickristas" at the jewelry. It's in greenhills, beside hsbc, near the connecticut parking area. See you there!

i'm in awe!
It was an unexpected yet pleasant surprise. I only wanted to get my coffee table book last night. You see, being included in the best 200 is already an honor in itself. There are thousands of entries to choose from and I was included in the top 200. Mind you, this was no ordinary photo contest, the country's best and well known photographers are all a part of this.
But this honor is not my own.
God chose to honor me in this contest. There are a lot of good entries from better photographers yet He chose to honor my little entry.
The shot is a product of being at the right place at the right time. We were walking along the road when I saw this house in Sabtang. It may have already been photographed a zillion times but the bike made it different. It was almost serendipitous, no, it was appointed. I took a few shots and left happy and satisfied. I took a lot of photos in Batanes and never thought of it as much.
Epix06 deadline came and I had to choose my entries. I had other favorites and I'm glad I chose this. We were hoping to get into the best 200 and nothing more. The competition is fierce and I wasn't expecting much.
Then God remembered me. And to Him I give the honor back. Photography is relatively new to me; I love capturing and creating beautiful things by drawing them, not taking their pictures. For now I'm happy, I finally found something where I could pursue with passion. This is not the end, this is just the beginning...
In pursuing our dreams and goals, the following Words echo in my thoughts...
================================
"Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain."
Psalms 127:1

help: photo project
i need a photo project. I'm suffering from a creative drought, a photographers block, as others would term it. lately, no opportunities - lakwatsa - have arisen to inspire me to shoot. i miss shooting but cant find myself to shoot something. id like to try food photography and do food critiquing but my "powers" are not adequate. i love eating, and it is somehow a disadvantage - i eat almost anything! from your source-of-daily-recommended-allowance-of-hepatitis isaw to the fancy-schmanzy-blow-your-savings-fine-dining italian delight at il' incontro, makati. i consider myself a foodie - ive been to and seen a lot of eating places and recommended many to friends. but my creativity simply doesn't work when I'm hungry.
alas, while looking for a wedding gift for a friend, i saw a coffee table book - "Filipina" - containing beautiful portraits of filipino women. I'm now thinking of making a similar gallery of friends. now i no longer need to travel to far places and get that prized picture. i just hope they would be cooperative enough to allow me to take their picture.
here's to more friendster pictures on your galleries!
